Purpose: To provide a positive experience for all participants; help build
positive self esteem for all players; teach team participation and
responsibilities; teach participants to respect and honor opponents,
coaches, officials, and parents; teach all participants how to win, how to
lose, and how to do both with dignity.
Squad limits: minimum
18, maximum 35 players.
Eligibility: Generally
players in 8th and 9th grade, who would not by their
age/weight qualify for a lower level, and those
players in lower grade who by the Age/Weight Chart fall into the Senior
bracket.
High School Rules (NFHS
and WIAA) shall govern play in games. Exceptions: game jersey numbers are
open to play at all positions. Substitutions: during scrimmage play with
the change of possession (i.e., fumble, loss of down, pass interception, or
punt), a team shall replace as many of its players on the field as is
possible with those from the bench. Each of those players substituted at a
change of possession must remain on the field for two consecutive legal
plays, unless the ball changes possession before then. Each player on the
team must play at least 12 scrimmage downs during the game. Ten minute
quarters and ten minute half time.
Practice sessions: shall
follow the rules (and other appropriate guidelines) establish by the GEJFA
Council for all teams in the GEJFA.
Game ball: intermediate
size football.
Four officials will be
assigned to each home game.
No weigh in will be
required. All players who meet the age requirements can play any position.
No limit on scoring, but
any team that runs over another team by 36 points or more shall write an
explanation of the steps they took during the game to keep from running up
the score and email or fax it to the GEJFA President by Monday following the
game.
