GEJFA MEETING MINUTES-August 22, 2000

Absent: Lloyd Woodall, Tom Thomason, John Veentjer, Robb Clarke, Brian Prouty (excused), Kirkland-Black.

Minutes From Last Meeting-Updated 8/22 due to technical issues.

All Coaches Clinic Review-Needs to be attended by all head coaches and 1 assistant. I will outline penalties currently in place for the Knights, which includes practice time reductions, to possibly be used for future meetings. Rookie and Semi-Pro attendance excellent. Sign-in sheets at each level needed info on split team identification (i.e. which Woodinville team (blue or green) etc.) Those systems where coaches are short should start recruiting coaches now for next year. Code of conducts were turned in by only 4 systems at clinic, but were mostly turned in at 8/22 meeting by those missing. Rule clarifications were addressed including weight gain for Semi-Pro (170lb running back rule increases each week by 1lb as well for weight gain), +10lb rule applies accordingly to Soph, JV and Varsity only within age point guidelines (see weight and age chart). Also, for semi-pro, x and xx players are ineligible receiver, for all other levels, there are no restrictions on positions for any players.

Split Policy Follow-Up- Woodinville turned in, still need from Eastlake and Kirkland. Roster reviews cannot occur without split policy.

Web Site Review-payment sheet updated, acct. will be closed at end of year so any money owed or received will be taken care of at December meeting

Schedule Review-9/9 correction made for Juanita and 5-Star.

Rookies-18 teams constitutes crossover conference games which means some games will not count in point standings. In the 2nd week for the 5-Star vs. Kirkland LW and Issaquah vs. Canyon Park-only Kirkland and Canyon Park can accumulate points in standings.

Cubs-20 teams, all games count in point standings

Sophs-22 teams, all games count

JV-19 teams, since Kirkland LW has no bye-cannot score points vs. 5-Star in 2nd week.

Varsity-16 teams. This is the preferred scenario for all levels, each team has 1 crossover game that does not count in point standings.

Semi-Pro-Only games within GEJFA count. Top 2 teams play for championship, 12 game schedule.

All other levels have Quarter finals on 11/04 and Semi-Finals on 11/11 as well as other match ups for non-champion eligible teams if wanted. Need to let Shawn know ASAP if your non-champion teams do not plan to
participate.

Huskies Dates-10/7 Redmond vs. Canyon Park (Rookies); 10/21 Univac vs. Kitsap (maybe) JV team from Univac as well as whatever level Kitsap picks will participate, and 11/4 Kirkland Juanita Cubs vs.????

Referees-55 signed up, 12 new. For those systems that did not recruit any referees, which is a majority, a $2.00 surcharge will be added to fees.

Jamborees-Eastlake may be having one 9/2 with Skyline

TV Package-Estimated base cost ($150+tax). All teams must complete the
paperwork and pay fee prior to game time at the championship.

Mercer Island System-Reviewed MI issue regarding administrative and other off-field problem areas. Andy O'Brien, while not acknowledging an actual issue existed, did try to explain that his system was trying to accommodate the rules, but that because of lack of volunteer and elementary school support, was unable to address some of the system's concerns at this time. He indicated that the program was only supported by 3 grade schools
and 1 junior high. It should be noted that most of the system currently only have support of 3-4 grade schools (2 in some cases) and 2 junior highs. Administratively, even though in paid positions, all is reliant on himself and Donna while the other systems are supported by numerous volunteer personnel so MI should not be expected to meet deadlines met by other systems according to Andy. Also, it is believed by MI that most of the other systems do not meet the GEJFA deadlines which has not been the case during this administration's term. It was decided to document carefully worded probation terms for MI to follow which we will review at the 9/5 meeting. Will include meeting attendance, administrative paperwork deadline commitment and assignment completion terms. This probation will be in place for the rest of 2000 season and non-compliance will result in system removal in 2001 via league vote.

Boys Club Fees-Need to fill out referee cost sheets and turn into Bob. Amounts to about $13.00/player

Other Business-Congrats to 5-Star for setting excellent example for league in only it's 2nd year concerning administrative deadlines.

Next Meeting-September 5th at 2000 at BB&G Club. Bring referee fees and work sheet to be turned into Shawn.
