GEJFA Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2004
Call to
order at 6:05PM.

Introductions – around the room personal
introductions, name and system…encouraged System Reps to get to know each other
and to communicate directly as necessary during the Season…be sure to update us
with changes in System Presidents and System Reps.
Website Updates -- Update your websites…we
would ask that they be kept current year round as occasionally players moving
into the area are looking for contacts, however, particularly important to keep
them current during season…update coach contacts so that we can make timely and
direct contact with appropriate coaches should there be last minute scheduling
changes…Game Reports and System Reports are being worked on so that they might
be more user friendly and automated in the near future…until then, download
forms and email your reports to Scott…no faxed System Reports as Scott does not
have fax…Game Schedule will be posted on the website at the end of the week.
Minutes
of last meeting were distributed by email and posted on the website…no changes
were offered…unless there is an objection, these minutes are adopted as
written.
Calendar
Review
·
Master roster
and birth certificates are due at August 24 Council Meeting…please bring marked
rosters and birth certificates including any of those that were missing. Master
rosters, with all additions and corrections are to be returned to the Club for
stamping anytime prior to 2nd game – by September 17…you may add any additional
players until that date.
·
Game
Schedule…Final team count changed by a couple of teams but barring any other
changes, the schedule is done…were not able to secure a Huskies pre-game this
year…John still working to get Seahawks pre-game(s).
·
Split Policy Due
- All systems should have turned their split policies into John.
·
Boys and Girls
Club Fees are due at or before the August 24th Council Meeting…$13 per player,
everyone must join if they are not already a member of either the Bellevue,
Kirkland or Mercer Island Boys and Girls…generally players for Kirkland and
Mercer Island will be members of those respective Clubs…membership in Redmond or
any other Boys and Girls Club no longer covers membership for purposes of
GEJFA. Please turn checks into John at the council meeting on 24th of August.
Admin and referee fees due at meeting at or before Sept 7th Council Meeting.
(see handout) - Any differences will be made up at the end of the season.
Rules
Update…rules were clarified in a number of places, but no real change…play by
our rules even interleague games…Coaches need to read and understand the rules.
Coaches
·
Coaches Meeting
- handout given for agenda…Breakouts follow all coaches meeting in theater
·
WSP Forms -
should have already been turned in…Get them in if you haven't already done so...
did forms for any added coaches to the Club ASAP.
·
Code of Conduct
Forms - Please give this to your coaches and have them all sign it…bring them to
the next council meeting, August 24. (these stay at the Bellevue Boys and Girls
Club)
·
First Aid –
leave this is up to the Systems to enforce.. There needs to be one person among
the rostered coaches for each team who is First Aid certified…please make sure
that this is noted on your rosters.
Jamborees
Please let Shawn know if you are hosting a jamboree (what time, who is joining)
he needs to set up officials…remember this is just a jamboree and scoring should
not be posted or published…limited number of officials who are there primarily
for the training of new officials.
Fields
·
Shawn went over
all field start times and availability with the system reps…we are packing games
in at some fields so please make sure that all games are started on time.
·
Shoreline
Stadium is not available for the playoffs, thus Issaquah was offered
Championship Game Day, will check availability of their field.
Motion made to count every game equally including cross over games…Passed with
none opposed.
Referees
·
First referee's
meeting tonight, Aug 16th, at 7:00PM…Still need Systems to be
recruiting officials – need two new from each System.
·
Zero tolerance –
best behavior from players, coaches and spectators
·
Spectator
behavior…encourage all Systems to use the parent Code of Conduct…coaches/teams
can be penalized for parents/spectator behavior
·
Remember that if
a foul will not affect the outcome of the play, there is a chance that it will
not be called unless it is either very egregious or dangerous.
Other
Business
·
Filming
Championship games - voted to have the same crew (John Holmes video w/ Mark
Hamilton announcing) do the video taping again - none opposed - see handout -
both teams must preorder the tapes/CDs, losing team cannot cancel orders.
·
October 3
Jamboree at Seahawk Stadium, now Quest Field, - this is a fund raiser for the
Pierce County Boys and Girls Club…Varsity and Senior age teams will scrimmage at
one end of the field…will not count as a practice…this is an all day event with
football camp like stations for players of all ages, as well as workshops for
coaches and parents…kids are free, parents are $2.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50 for
All Coaches Clinic.
