Call to Order at 1900
INTRODUCTIONS: Our new president, John Veentjer, welcomed us and asked for all
new members to identify themselves along with updating their information such as
e-mail address, phone, etc. If anyone has not done so, please inform myself and
John ASAP. You should also update your individual web sites with this
information and let Brian Berry know of any changes.
MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING: No changes reported.
REVIEW CALENDAR: Important dates listed in packet and updated on the web. One
added item was that field availability will be required at the same time as
preliminary rosters (7/1). This means that all systems should let us know what
their field dates are so we can forward them to the schedulers on July 1, 2001.
The playoffs and their hosts were announced (pending field availability):
Rookies/Cubs (Sammamish-Bears hosting), Soph/JV-5-Star, Varsity-Eastlake,
Championships at Pop Keeney (Bothell Hosting)
REVIEW AGE/WEIGHT SCHEDULE: Basically adjusted for 2001date only-no other major
changes noted. Need to add Semi-pro exception statement.
REVIEW SEMI-PRO LEVEL: All changes, if required, will come from committee work
headed by Bill K. and Ed R. At this time no changes were noted.
REVIEW COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS: Grievance-Univac/Skyline/Bears; Roster
Review-Everyone; Husky/Seahawks Coordinators-Issaquah (Seahawks),
Kirkland/Redmond (Huskies); Game Report-VP (Mike P.); Score Reporting-Matt C.
(Redmond); Semi-Pro-Bears/Bothell; Post Season/Exchange Games-Inglemoor;
Rules-N/A; Complaints-Secretary; Scheduler-Robb Clarke; Web Site
Coordinator-Brian Berry
REVIEW ALL COACHES BREAKOUT: Semi-Pro (Bears); Varsity (Ken Hudson-SnoValley);
JV (Rick Wells-Skyline); Sophomore (Chuck Nichol-Univac); Cubs (Mike P); Rookies
(Scott Shelton-5 Star). All breakout focals should be thinking about who to
train for future coaches clinic and give those names to us in June.
WINTER COMMITTEE WORK: Semi-Pro (same as above); Divisions-Robb Clarke; 8
minute quarters-Committee work completed by Chuck (motion passed for stop clock
and 8 minute quarters for Rookies and Cubs only. Falls in line with rest of
league stop clock standards.); Field Manager description-5 Star
OFFICIALS: Recruitment is required by all systems for 1 referee for every 2
teams. Referees need to be trained at jamborees so try to schedule away from
last week in August due to other PNFOA requirements. Senior referees are
preferred over high school students due to conflicts on some weekends such as
Homecoming.
CHAMPIONSHIP VIDEO PRODUCTIONS-There are no outstanding payments left so all
videos should be forthcoming. I have been assigned to look into alternatives to
Wellman productions and will report at the June meeting 2 prospective
alternatives that I have investigated.
RULE REMINDERS: All teams need to have at least 1 first-aid certified coach on
the field at all times. I will coordinate with Overlake this week and report
next week all times and dates between now and August 1 that are available. I
will also check to see if what was presented at the club last year can be turned
into a certified course.
The code of conduct will be predicated on a zero tolerance policy which worked
quite well last year. Coaches and systems should be forewarned of this policy so
no questions are asked if they are required to go before grievance. Some coaches
last year were surprised that suspensions were required for ALL matters
involving grievance appearances.
OTHER BUSINESS: A question was raised about championship trophies, but the burden of keeping track of an expensive trophy outweighed the presentation of such. From a personal opinion, I have already lost track of who has our Cub Trophy. Hopefully our coach has an eye on it. The Ben Rush grade school has an issue between Kirkland and Redmond that will be worked out amongst themselves regarding waivers for those that want to play in Kirkland's system.
