Hello GEJFA Coaches,

This is a friendly reminder that all GEJFA coaches and field managers must be familiar with and understand the game day rules (GEJFA Rules). Not that any rule is more significant than others, but our biggest problems typically occur with misunderstanding the weigh-in process, substitution rules, and score management.

Due to the COVID-19 concerns and state requirements/advisories, all coaches, players, officials and spectators must avoid/minimize close contact and follow any specific field policies that may be in place. This should include:

  • Only 1 team at the weigh-in scale.
  • Only 1 player from each team at the coin toss.
  • No post-game handshake lines or cross-team gatherings.

If the field manager(s) indicate that participants are not doing as they should, it will be reported to GEJFA and other restrictions may have to be considered.

Don't forget! Each team must submit a GEJFA Game Report by midnight on game day. Failure to submit a game report by the deadline results in an AUTOMATIC 1 game suspension for the team's Head Coach.

Have a safe and fun season!

Shawn Hartline
GEJFA President

GEJFA Overview

Welcome to the GREATER EASTSIDE JUNIOR FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (GEJFA) Website! Greater Eastside includes communities east of Seattle, Washington. This Web site is where you will find information for the local football Clubs that make up GEJFA. You will also find information for Club Directors, Club Representatives to the GEJFA Council, Club Boards, parents and players.

Provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants; help to build positive self-esteem for players; teach team participation and responsibility; teach participants to respect and honor opponents and all other participants (coaches, officials, parents); teach sportsmanship and fair play; teach football skills in an environment where players compete with other players of comparable age and weight; and teach all participants how to win, how to lose, and how to do both with dignity.

The Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA) was formed in 1963 to provide contact football in a program that respects the GEJFA philosophy. GEJFA serves all youth between the ages of 8 and 14. There are five levels of play based on an age/weight formula to ensure that players compete against players of like size and age. The levels are Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity and, Varsity. There are 20 independent franchised Clubs that comprise the GEJFA, representing the youth of the Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Issaquah, East Renton, Newcastle, Bainbridge Island, and Edmonds. Each Club has geographical boundaries, which in most cases, are the same or similar to the local high school. The GEJFA junior football program is unique in its high number of participants and rules to ensure the equitable playing time for all players.
