A. GEJFA Organization:
The Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA) was formed by the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club in 1963 to provide contact football in a program that respects the Boys and Girls Club philosophy. GEJFA serves all youth between the ages of 8 and 14 (see Eligibility in the Frequently Asked Questions). There are five levels of play based on an age/weight formula to ensure that players compete against players of like size and age. The levels are Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity and, Varsity.
There are 22 independent franchised Clubs that comprise the GEJFA, representing the youth of the Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Issaquah, East Renton, Newcastle Bainbridge Island, and Edmonds. Each Club has geographical boundaries, which in most cases, are the same or similar to the local high school.
Each Club is managed independent of the others (e.g. each has its own registrations, each acquires and issues its own equipment, each has a home field, etc.); however, as a member of GEJFA, each Club is to be managed in accordance with GEJFA rules. Each Club has representation on the GEJFA Council, thus they have input in how the larger organization functions.
B. Club Assignment:
Generally, the boundaries of each Club coincide with the boundaries of the public high in the area. Using the links below, you can determine the High School boundary in which you reside and the GEJFA franchised Club in which you should register.
Except as noted below (grandfathers and transfers), a player is required to register and play in the Club in which he/she resides. All exceptions must be approved by the Club(s) involved and the GEJFA Grievance Committee.
The Club links below will take you to each Club's specific website. Contact information for each Club can be found at in the list Council Representatives.
(1) Clubs service areas coincide with the public high schools boundaries within the area served by the GEJFA as follows:
(2) Players who reside outside GEJFA Boundaries: If a player resides outside the boundaries of GEJFA (not within the boundaries of any of the member Clubs) then the player is essentially a free-agent and may seek to register with any GEJFA franchised Club, subject to GEJFA rules and Club acceptance (see paragraph B.(5) below).
(3) Grandfather clause: Having established eligibility to play in a Club based on boundaries wherein a player resided, that player may continue to play with that Club from year to year until his/her eligibility expires, regardless of his/her current residence. That eligibility expires when the player moves from within those boundaries and either doesn't play football for one or more seasons, or plays for the Club based on boundaries wherein he/she currently resides. This grandfather does not apply to siblings who have not established their own eligibility under this provision.
(4) Transfers: A player who plays for a Club other than the one in which he/she resides must have an approved transfer, except in the case of a grandfather discussed in paragraph B.(3) above. That transfer is good only for the current year and must be renewed annually. Transfers Form
(5) Until June 30, Clubs must first accommodate all player applicants who reside within their boundaries before taking transfers from other Clubs or from beyond their boundaries.
